Alex Jefferson and The Webmaster

I was question by a fan of AIO a few days back about what it was like to have a Character named after me.  I thought about it, and told him.  Then I took a second look at the Character that the staff were inspired by me to make a Character out of.  I looked at the Character and as I listened again to the episodes I was shocked to see that this Character and me did seem to be the same in a few ways, and I thought I would just write a little bit about Characters and how this one had a stronger affect on me.

Alex Jefferson and The Webmaster

It was some time ago when Phil Lollar still was with Odyssey that he informed me about the Team meeting and how they kicked around an idea of using me as a Character. I was flattered, and then told him that it might get pretty boring if it was a real Character of me, as I was a pretty boring guy myself. Still the same the AIO Team worked at the Idea and instead of naming this character, "Jeff Cunningham" they came up with a more clever name. They thought about what name would fit this Character and what the Character would be like, and because he was a computer kid, just like myself, the name Alex seemed to stick. Alex is a well known name for "computer kids" and it seemed to fit. Besides all that I had a pet Raccoon named Alex, but that is another story. As for the last name, they combined my first name into the last and made it JEFFerson. The named seemed to fit perfect. And although, it went through careful planning of that name, the name was also used in a previous episode, "The Fundamentals."
The whole team seemed to work on a script with Alex in it with me in mind. The episode was The Virtual Kid and was about a kid in his web site, which is what the whole team knew about the site anyway.
I remember after hearing The Virtual Kid I thought:
"Boy that kid seems just like me almost. He really seems just to enjoy the computer more then real life. What a jerk!"
I then realized I was calling my self a jerk. For I was just as guilty as the kid Alex in that episode. Anyway, later that day, instead of updating my site that day I would go out and enjoy God's creation, and that was one of the best times I had.

Now ever since seeing myself in Alex I decided to always put everything before my little website, and this in my free time, and although there may be lack of updates here and there, I am doing something that I will enjoy later in life when I look back.
Since then Alex has been in the following episodes; The Eternal Birthday (Split),
The Lyin' Tale (Split), What Do You Think? (Split), Idol Minds (Split), No Boundaries, and A Matter of Manners (Split). And although Alex Jefferson hasn't had much of a main role, I look forward to see how they cast him and in some way he reminds me of me.

Another fun fact is that the actor that performs the voice for Alex, Travis Tedford, he almost sounds like me when I was 11 and still had my "kid" voice.

Although it is strange in some ways, it is fun to hear this kid Alex pop up here and there and know that the idea came from a small web master across the cost. I suggest you look at the Characters and see which one reminds you, of you the most! Most of all, look at all the characters and learn a lession from them. You can learn a lot from Characters!
