Why All The Fans Wrote "I Slap
Floor"
A big hit episode last spring season had a lot to do with Fan's
Idea's.
Hunderds of letters poured in the first week of April, and still come in
with the same question; "What dose I Slap Floor mean?"
It is safe to say that "I Slap Floor" was teh biggest hit episode of the Spring
Season. It even makes it on some fans top 10 list, as to be one of the all time best
episodes. While teaching a lession of disernment, it also brought to life many of
the fans letters and e-mails to the Team. Perhaps you might have noticed a few ideas
that you had were played out in this episode. Written by the wonderful Marshal
Younger and directed by Phil Lollar, the one who brought Odyssey to life, the episode was
a big hit when it aired on April 1st, or better known as "Fool's Day."
Marshal Younger had this idea for quite sometime, and he didn't get an okay to do teh
script until Phil Lollar came in charge. Although it may have been harder for
Younger to sell the idea to Paul McCusker, it seemed that the episode fit the spring
season line up at the same time when they were trying out the new split episodes.
The idea was around way back in 96, but it was brought to life in 2000.
So how was the episode written by fans?
Well, fan's have always, and still do, seem to write in there reasons on why Eugene and
Connie should fall in love and get maried. Although it never seems to fit The AIO
Team plan, they did allow in "I Slap Floor" this to happen, in a story that
Bernard is telling to the kids at Whit's End. A lot of other fun stories were told
in the episode, and each and everyone seemed to be conected to a letter sent in by a fan.
Such as how Edwin Blackgaard and Margat Faye should get married, or Blackgaard should
really not ever die or Eugene and Katrina should brake up. All the idea's were used
in a fun new way. Even an idea I sent in about Richard Maxwell being mayor.
Maxwell's part was really for Tasha but they had to re-arange it because the
actress wasn't avaible. When you listen to the whole episode and have a laugh, then
you think. And when you think, you are probably glad that all the fans don't write
the episodes, but that we leave it to the pro's at AIO who know what they are doing.
The episode also pokes fun at the video's with Whit creating a new invention that sounds
so crazy, in reality the invention is the "Strata-Flyer."
There was also a fan who sent in an Idea with Whit drinking the wrong Milkshake and going
crazy and turning evil and Eugene has to think of some way to bring Whit back. It
sounds more like Indiana Jones: Temple Of Doom.
All around "I Slap Floor" was one of the most fun and enjoyable episodes, and
Marshal Younger did a wonderful job of putting it together.
Oh, and for those who don't know what I Slap Floor means,
